Carolina Men's Soccer To Host Camps In March
Feb. 1, 2008
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina men's soccer program will host a pair of new camps in March aimed at both youth and high school players. The Spring Break Soccer Camp will be held March 24-27 for boys ages six to 14, and the College Prep Camp is open to male players in grades nine through 12. Both camps will be held at UNC's Finley Fields, the training facility of the Tar Heels. North Carolina coaches Elmar Bolowich, Carlos Somoano and Jeff Negalha will lead both camps. Application forms for each camp are available on the men's soccer page at TarHeelBlue.com. The goal of the Spring Break Camp is for the players to have fun while improving their soccer abilities at the same time. The main focus of instruction is on technical development for younger players and tactical development for older players. The skills will be incorporated into small-sided games. Cost of the four-day camp is $150. The College Prep Camp is designed to give players the opportunity to experience an NCAA Division I training environment, be evaluated by college coaches and get exposure to the Carolina staff and other college coaches that will make up the Prep Camp staff. This camp will include training sessions run by college coaches, a recruiting lecture and competitive matches. Cost of the two-day camp is $125, and space is limited to 60 players (eight goalkeepers and 52 field players). For more information about either camp, contact UNC assistant coaches Carlos Somoano (919-962-0466) or Jeff Negalha (919-843-8657).
